I would like to express my profound gratitude to the University, Wubuntu, and Great Commission United for providing me with such a wonderful internship opportunity in Cape Town.

First and foremost, I must highlight the immense impact my internship supervisor, Mario, had on my experience. When I first met him at Great Commission United, a renowned non-profit organization that carries out various projects, including the In-School Project, After School Project, and Mother City Kitchen Project, I was amazed by his ability to efficiently run such a large organization. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have had the chance to learn from his dedication, perseverance, and professional demeanor.

As an accounting student, working as a financial assistant at Great Commission United was an invaluable opportunity for me to apply the knowledge and skills I have gained. In addition to assisting with the cost analysis of the Mother City Kitchen project, Mario also encouraged me to actively participate in their In School and After School programs at a local primary school. This allowed me to interact with the children and provide them with homework guidance. Working with the children proved to be quite challenging, and I was in awe of the tutors and teachers who were able to manage a large class single-handedly. Additionally, my colleagues at Great Commission United came from diverse backgrounds, creating an environment that allowed me to acquire a range of new skills and knowledge. For instance, I had the chance to learn how to use Canva to design newsletters and brochures for advertising purposes. Furthermore, due to the organization's vast network, I had the pleasure of meeting American interns who served as coaches in the After School program. Despite their short two-week stay, they brought us many memorable moments.

Furthermore, I was encouraged to explore Cape Town during my time as an intern. The beauty of nature and the diverse cultures truly astonished me. During weekends, I took advantage of the opportunity to visit various landmarks such as the V&A Waterfront, Cape of Good Hope, Table Mountain, and the University of Cape Town. Cape Town perfectly exemplified the harmonious coexistence of a bustling city and breathtaking natural landscapes.

Throughout the two-month internship period, Wubuntu did an outstanding job organizing immersive events that exceeded my expectations. One of these events allowed us to engage in cultural activities with a local Cape Malay family, which included cooking traditional Cape Malay food. Not only did we enjoy the cooking experience, but the local families also shared valuable insights into the living circumstances of the local communities. Another event involved crafting African hand-made items. Here, we had the opportunity to design our handcrafts using various African gems. The workshop was enjoyable and relaxed, thanks to our kind and patient host, Ms. Donna. We learned extensively about African gems, and jewellery, and even had a wonderful dinner together.

However, I must acknowledge the biggest difficulty I encountered during my internship - load shedding. Despite being briefed on its existence before my departure, it was only when I experienced it firsthand that I truly understood the inconvenience it caused. To mitigate the impact of load-shedding, we learned to plan our activities according to the load-shedding timetable.

In conclusion, Cape Town is truly a remarkable place to visit and explore, welcoming people from all walks of life. Despite the inconvenience of load-shedding, I thoroughly enjoyed my internship as it enriched and expanded my knowledge and experience.
