WILLIANTO, Angelica - Internship in Indonesia

Programme: Global Internship Programme

I was pleased for the opportunity to work at ELL Environmental Indonesia as an IT Builder, and I definitely received the experience I was yearning for. During my internship, I worked on a number of projects aimed at improving the company's ability to continue operating remotely. I got to build up everything from scratch with another intern colleague under the guidance of CEO. It was a big responsibility yet a very exciting experience!

What made the experience so memorable was also the people I got to work with. I was under the direct supervision of the Company’s CEO, who was an amazing mentor. He has actively pushed us to voice our opinions, given thoughtful feedback, and provided all the support we need to execute our ideas. One of the projects I got to work closely on was building automated systems for initially offline processes that require lots of paperwork, which are not ideal for remote working. An extra challenge posed to me by the CEO was to make the entire process as user-friendly as possible. Hence in the process of designing the system, I had to learn to talk to the users (which are the company employees) and understand their habits and preferences so that I grasped a better sense of how to make the system as easy to use as possible. This is where my soft skills got battle-tested and refined.

ELL Environmental Indonesia gave me a significant period in my life to grow professionally and learn more about the Indonesian clean energy sector, which was a really valuable component that I can't foresee obtaining anywhere else. I feel that the knowledge and skills I gained from this internship expanded my perspective and made me enthusiastic about my future!
