The internship at Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office Jakarta has provided me a precious opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. This is the first time that I visit Indonesia, and what is heard and seen were totally different from my perception and imagination. Before my arrival at Jakarta, I thought that the city image and living conditions would be quite far from Hong Kong, however, the city is developed properly where residential area and office buildings are proportioned separated. Although traffic jam is serious in Jakarta, the convenience of online taxi services like Grab and Gojek do helps a lot for our daily transportation.

In line with my personal growth, a wide range of work duties provides me insight into the economic and trade relations between ASEAN countries and Hong Kong. As an intern under public relations team, news monitoring and social media management are my daily major tasks. Through reading and summarizing the important economic, political, and social news in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Brunei, China, as well as Hong Kong, I gained insight on the economic role and relationship between ASEAN countries and Hong Kong.

Noteworthy, the colleagues in the office are friendly and supportive. The local colleagues have organized an Indonesian class for us to learn the basic Indonesian words and phrases, which is super useful and helpful when it comes to daily conversations and ordering food. Significantly, being an assistant in the Bali International Film Festival is the most memorable experience during my internship. During the film festival, we had the chance to join the luncheon with a myriad of Hong Kong directors and artists, then got to know more about the current trend and development of film industry both locally and internationally. Apart from the luncheon, we also participated in the seven Hong Kong film program, and exchanged the feeling and opinions on the featuring movies with the Indonesian and foreign visitors.

All in all, the internship at Jakarta is fantastic and thought-provoking, which enhance my adaptability in a new culture, as well as a wide range of professional skills and work experience.
