Transitioning from an academic environment to a professional workspace, especially one as diverse as this international team, was an uneasy yet precious learning journey. Interacting with colleagues from South America, North America, Africa, Europe, Oceania, and Asia showcased the true essence of teamwork across cultures. The phrase "broadening one's horizons" had always seemed clichéd to me, until this internship experience. Working with such a varied group of individuals, made me appreciate unity amidst cultural diversity, and sharing in their experiences solidified my understanding of the world. Effective communication, adaptability, and a global mindset were not just theoretical concepts anymore; they had transformed into daily practices. I have progressed a lot in my both personal and professional development.

As an outsider, living in a country deeply rooted in Buddhist tradition has been an interesting experience. Teaching in a Buddhist government school has also provided me a firsthand encounter with how the younger generation is inculcated the teachings of Buddhism through education. Witnessing monks visit the school, blending their religious teaching with modern education, was an experience that demonstrated the modernisation of Buddhism through mainstream education.

Through this journey, I have come to comprehend the interplay of religions, cultures, and society in a way that no classroom could offer. My experiences in Thailand have not only deepened my interests in religious studies and education, but have also honed my ability to bridge cultural gaps, an invaluable skill in our increasingly interconnected world. As I reflect on my internship, I'm reminded that while theoretical knowledge lays the foundation, practical application in real-life make knowledge truly alive.
