There are 3 rounds in the Young Tax Professional of the Year 2023 (Hong Kong). First, we were asked to answer a number of multiple-choice questions which were related to basic taxation knowledge. Then, we were formed in groups and required to do a case presentation in a group format. Finally, 2 of the candidates were chosen in each group and each shortlisted finalist did an individual presentation on the extended part of the case.

The competition unexpectedly put all the previously acquired knowledge and skills to the test. While the taxation knowledge I learnt at CUHK served as the foundation for answering case questions, effective communication and collaboration skills were key to success during the presentation and Q&A sessions. I would like to encourage my fellow CUHK students to take up challenges, as the foundation we have laid will contribute to their future success.
